Wildlife Inventory Systems (WIS) is a Ukiah / Willits, CA based consulting firm providing biological, botanical and environmental services specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), wildlife, fisheries, and aquatic ecosystem evaluations and analysis and survey for the community and surrounding counties and states. With the enhancement of (GIS) technology to spatially assist in data analysis and display, WIS is able to provide a more complete solution to complex environmentally sensitive assessments. WIS can graphically represent the location, frequency of particular habitat types, data sets, fish and wildlife species distribution and use, along with other relevant features identifying unique problems, with solutions, for land management activities.
  As of July 1, 2009, the company revised its ownership makeup, becoming an LLC, naming Naomi Adams president of Wildlife Inventory Systems, LLC. The company was conceived in 1994 and founded in 1995 by Chris Adams, a wildlife biologist by training and experience (initially with the US Forest Service), originally providing Northern Spotted Owl (NSO) Surveys, (and have for 19 years), now specializing in environmental GIS/GPS assessments. WIS utilizes state of the art equipment, computers, sensors, plotters and software. Through the use of high-end networked workstations (with dual core/quad core, Xeon dual processors, maximum memory, max video, etc.) running complex, sophisticated GIS software programs, including ArcGIS 10, ArcMap 10, AutoCAD Map 3D 2011, and ERDAS Imagine, Advantage, Ortho-Pro etc. as well as state of the art Global Positioning System (GPS) data collectors (Trimble Pro XH and Pro XR). WIS can provide precise ground proofing for most of its projects. WIS offers many custom mapping, monitoring, wildlife survey, and assessment options.
WIS personnel collect and analyze data from field surveys, imagery, surface interpolation, historic data. Powerful, three-dimensional visual analysis tools support dynamic visualization, flight sequences, and the management/assimilation of multiple geographic data types in a real-time, and 3D environments for added visual clarity.
Wildlife Inventory Systems is an aggregation of highly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable personnel with a wide range of backgrounds in various disciplines. WIS personnel have real in the field training, education (bachelor and master’s degrees) and experience in aquatic, fishery and wildlife resource habitat evaluations and assessments involving botany, Endangered Species (including the Northern Spotted Owl (NSO)) and other species specific survey protocols (all in compliance with United States Fish and Wildlife Service, National Marine Fisheries Service protocols, Endangered Species Act (ESA) and National Environmental Protection Agency (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance issues.
